Excalibur Soccer Season Preview: Hard work has Excalibur men's and women's soccer excited for 2021 season

"This is the most exciting time for all athletes!"

After nearly two years away from competition, the Excalibur men's and women's soccer team get their 2021 season started this weekend with a home and home series against the RMC Paladins.

Kicking things off on Friday, September 24 the men's will play first at 4:00 p.m. before the women's take the field at 6:00 p.m. The teams will return to Justin Chiu Stadium on Sunday, September 26 for their home openers, with the women starting at 1:15 p.m. and men's game scheduled at 3:15 p.m.

Coming back together following the cancelled 2020 season, the men's team is setting the bar high for themselves with two years' worth of recruits and the excitement to get started. Fourth year goalie Jacob McPhee believes things are trending upwards to start the season.

"We are heading into this season with the highest expectations that the program has had, despite the time away from soccer," said McPhee. "We have made some key additions to the team and this season is looking bright. We are all excited."

Fifth year defender Alexis Wilson echoes the comments from McPhee, as they women's team is ready to see what they can do during the regular season.

"It feels good to be back with the team," said Wilson. "We have a group of hardworking players and I am excited to see the passion we bring to the pitch this season."
