Women's curling

Joe Muldoon and Brad Robinson rejoin the Excalibur as head coaches of the women's and men's curling teams

After spending 33 years working at the Trent University Durham and the last several years as the head coach of the Excalibur men's curling team, Trent Athletics is excited to announce Joe Muldoon will be stepping into the head coach role with the Excalibur women's team, while Brad Robinson is promoted into the head coaching role with the Excalibur men's curling team.

Previously serving as the head coach of the men's curling program, Muldoon joins the women's program following the departure of Dave Farnell. Muldoon recently led the Excalibur men's team to a top 10 finish at the OUA Championships in 2022, and continued to develop and train incoming Excalibur student-athletes. The Excalibur women's curling team is coming off a fifth place finish at the 2022 OUA Championships, finishing second in Pool A with a 3-1 record.

I am excited to take on the coaching duties of the women's varsity curling team after several years with the men's program," said Muldoon. "I hope to develop the program so the team is competitive at OUA Provincials year over year. With the current group of talented young student-athletes, we can look forward to a bright future for curling at Trent."

Robinson will step into a bigger role with the Excalibur men's program this season, as he previously served as the assistant coach with the team. As a former Excalibur student-athlete, he hopes to continue the culture that has developed over the years with the team.

"I am incredibly excited to step into the role of head coach for the upcoming 2022-23 season," said Robinson. "The Trent men's curling program has always held a reputation of having a very close-knit community of players that are dedicated to high performance curling, while representing Trent with great pride and class. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to carry on this tradition and build a program that is committed to developing top level curlers."
