Men’s Lacrosse

The Men’s Lacrosse Team went 2-0 this weekend at home, reclaiming their first-place title and remaining undefeated at home. In their first game on Friday, they faced off against Carleton, fighting battling for first in their division. Carleton came into the match 7-1, having a single loss to the Ottawa Gee-gees earlier in the season. Trent was 5-1, losing their last matchup against the Ravens and looking for the equalizer. It was a very close game, with Carleton being up by one at half, but with 3 goals in the third quarter, Trent had a two-goal lead. Despite an exceptional defensive effort, the Ravens were able to recover and tie the game with under three minutes left and sent the game into overtime. The men fought hard in the first overtime but were unsuccessful in their efforts and the game continued into double overtime. The men continued to fight and dominated the offense, and the OT goal was scored by Bronsen Muller to win the game for the Excalibur. The final score was 7-6 Trent (2OT) to reclaim first place in the east division and remain undefeated at home. They claimed their second victory of the weekend on Saturday when they defeated the Bishop’s Gaiters 12-7. The men played very well, with a hat-trick scored by Dallyn Rai and almost a double hat-trick by Dom Millman who scored 5 goals! The men play their final two games of the regular season next weekend, when they take on the Queen’s Gaels in Kitchener and the McGill Redbirds at home.

 

Men’s Rugby

The Men’s Rugby team played their final regular season game this weekend against the Brock Badgers. The men played hard for the entire 80 minutes, but unfortunately lost 31-20. The Excalibur scored 4 tries but was unable to secure the victory against the Badgers offense. The men are now waiting until next weekend to learn if they secure a spot in the postseason.

 

Women’s Lacrosse

The women’s lacrosse team played two games this weekend in Hamilton at Alumni Field and split the weekend 1-1. Their first game was against the McMaster Marauders, where they claimed a 12-10 victory. Their second game, they faced the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks, and unfortunately lost 6-5. The women have their home series next weekend for their final two games of the season on Sunday, when they take on the Brock Badgers and Guelph Gryphons.

 

Women’s Soccer

The Excalibur Women’s soccer team split their road trip this weekend 1-1. Their first game on Saturday was against the Queen’s Gaels, which they unfortunately lost 6-0. The next day, they took on the RMC Paladins, hoping for a comeback. The women won 4-1, with two goals scored by Natalie Coscarella and the other two scored by Darienne Patkau and Ellie Whalen. The Excalibur women’s soccer team play their final two games of the season next weekend, with their last home game on Saturday against the Carleton Ravens.

 

Men’s Soccer

The Excalibur Men’s Soccer team also split their weekend road trip 1-1. In their first game, they were up 2-1 at halftime after two goals by Leo Frans, but unfortunately lost the game in the 85th minute of play and were unable to recover. The next day, they took on the RMC Paladins when they were able to win 4-0. Brandon Chicoy, Ayo Onafusi, Ifrain Shimaka and Farhan Qureshi each scored one of the four goals and helped secure the Excalibur victory. The men play their final two games of the season next weekend, with their last home game on Saturday against the Carleton Ravens.

 

Rowing

The Varsity rowing team had an exceptional weekend at the Brock Invitational this weekend! Tess Friar and Rebecca Dockray placed second in the Varsity women’s 2x, with Kendall Rose and Sam Wiggs not too far behind taking fifth! Trevor Andrews and Dave Mungham placed fourth in the Varsity Men’s x2 and a big congratulations to the Novice Women who won First place!
