Excalibur Recap September 25 - October 1

Women’s Rugby

Kicking off our Head of the Trent weekend was the Excalibur Women’s Rugby Team who claimed their first victory of the season! Maddy Moodie, Tess Bower, Ella Honey, and Baylie MacMillian each scored a Try, along with two conversions scored by Reese McCarthy-Wakeford. The women were dominant the entire game, winning 24-0 over the York Lions in their final home game of the season.

Women’s Soccer

The Women’s Soccer team played two games this weekend and unfortunately were unable to secure the victory in either. At home, they played the first game of the day on September 30^th during the Head of the Trent where they faced the Ottawa Gee Gees. They put up a strong effort, only being down 1-0 at halftime, but sadly lost 9-0 in the end. The next day, the women travelled to Oshawa to take on the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks. The women continued to show their skill and determination, only being down 2-0 at halftime, but unfortunately lost 3-0.

Men’s Soccer

The Men’s soccer team also had a disappointing weekend, losing both their games to the TMU Bold and the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks. On Saturday, they played their Head of the Trent match against TMU. The men played hard for the entire 90 minutes but were unable to recover from an early 2-0 deficit in the first 25 minutes of play. The final score was 2-0 TMU. During their game against Ontario Tech on Sunday, two early goals once again proved to be too difficult to recover from. The final score was 3-0 Ridgebacks.

Men’s Rugby

The Men’s Rugby team dominated the RMC Paladins in a 19-6 victory to close out the Head of the Trent weekend. Nick Bews, Austin Allen, and Ethan Giles each scored a try, and Darren Kusinski scored two conversions, which was more than enough to defeat the Paladins.

Rowing

During the Head of the Trent Regatta, the Excalibur had an impressive weekend! The men’s university JV 2x team and the women’s university novice 8+ team both came first in their races! The men’s novice 4+ team came second, and the varsity women’s university 2x came third. Well done rowers!
