Excalibur women's volleyball team celebrates

Excalibur Weekend Wrap-Up: Excalibur volleyball resumes 2021-22 OUA season (Feb 11-13)

After the OUA announced in December that the season would be postponed in the new year, the Excalibur volleyball teams were excited to get back in action over the weekend at home.

Welcoming back friends and family back into the Trent Athletics Centre, the women's Excalibur team got the weekend started against the Queen's Gaels. The Gaels got off to a strong start, handing the Excalibur team a 3-0 (18-25, 16-25, 11-25) loss.

The women's Excalibur were not discouraged, as they bounced back on Sunday against the visiting RMC Paladins, for a dominant 3-1 victory (25-22, 27-25, 22-25, 25-18) in front of the home crowd. Outside hitter Natalie Fournier led the charge offensively, tallying 12 kills, while Taya Knier continued her dominant defensive season, collecting three blocks. Knier currently sits fourth in blocks per set among U Sports student-athletes.

The men's Excalibur also got the 2022 season restarted against the Gaels and Paladins, dropping both matches 3-0. Outside hitter Christopher Leroy lead the way offensively with 12 kills versus the Paladins, while Ethan Earle led the way against the Gaels.

The Excalibur teams will head out onto the road to visit the York Lions before heading to Kingston for a rematch against the Queen's Gaels.
