Excalibur Weekend Wrap-up (Oct 15-17): Excalibur put their best efforts on the field as regular season winds down

The conclusion of the regular season is closing in and the Trent Excalibur student-athletes were making sure they gave it their all representing the green and white this weekend.

With playoff implications on the line, the Excalibur men's rugby team took to the field at Justin Chiu Stadium on Saturday to take on the RMC Paladins in the final regular season game. Looking for a victory and a possible playoff berth, the men's team got out to a quick 24-14 lead before a late charge by the Paladins put their game away, as the Excalibur lose a close one, 34-31.

The Excalibur women's rugby team was  also on the field for their season finale as they visited the Laurier Golden Hawks at Knight-Newborough Field. With strong offensive and defensive play, the Excalibur added another win to their season, winning 50-14 on Saturday night.

In lacrosse action, the Excalibur women's lacrosse team was up against the Toronto Varsity Blues as the visiting team in Toronto. With their graduating players in the starting lineup for their final regular season game, the team held on for the 10-9 victory, with the OUA Championships next weekend (October 30 and 31) in Oshawa.

The men's team also capped off their stellar regular season with a victory over the Toronto Varsity Blues at Justin Chiu Stadium. Earning the 13-8 victory, the Excalibur concluded the regular season atop the Central division with an undefeated record of 6-0. They will head into the Baggataway Cup playoffs next week in a rematch against the Varsity Blues on Sunday.

On the soccer field, the Excalibur continued their season play against the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks before closing out their season next weekend on Halloween. Against the Rigdebacks, the women's team came up just short in their home and home weekend matchup, dropping the pair of games 2-1. The men's team would see their record drop to 2-6 after a pair of losses, 4-0 and 3-0 the final scores. Excalibur soccer will look to close out their regular season strong against the Carleton Ravens on Friday and Sunday.
