Excalibur Weekend Wrap-up (Oct 15-17): Excalibur rugby headline strong weekend in front of fans in the stands at Justin Chiu Stadium
The Excalibur men's rugby team returned home on Saturday, welcoming fans in the stands to cheer on our student-athletes for their 2021 season home opener.
The Excalibur men's team made sure to put on a show for their season home open, with their playoff contention hopes on the line. Facing off against the University of Toronto Varsity Blues, the men's team were solid defensively while dominating the field, claiming their first victory of the season with a 26-5 win.
The women's team also took to the field at Justin Chiu Stadium and set the tone on Saturday against the Toronto Varsity Blues. Already earning a preseason win against the Varsity Blues last month, the Excalibur team continued their dominance, earning a 40-12 victory.
Kicking off the weekend action on Friday, the Excalibur men's lacrosse team continued to roll, extending their season record to 5-0. Hosting the Laurentian Voyageurs, the first place Excalibur put on another dominant performance in their penultimate game of the season, winning 18-4.
On the soccer pitch, the Excalibur men's and women's teams played a home-and-home series against the York Lions. The women's team started got the action started, falling 4-2 at York before returning home, losing by a score of 2-0. The men's team will look to bounce back next week against the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks, after dropping both games against the Lions with a final score of 4-0.
