Excalibur Weekend Wrap-up (Oct 1-3) : Excalibur showcase talents during Homecoming weekend

The undefeated Excalibur men's lacrosse team got the varsity homecoming festivities started at Justin Chiu Stadium on Friday night versus the Laurentian Voyageurs, putting on another dominant match in front of the home crowd.

Rookie Taite Cattoni showed why he was drafted at the 2021 NLL Draft in August, putting the ball into the back of the net six times, including four in the first quarter. Co-captain Cam Milligan scored a goal of his own while handing out eight assists on the night as the Excalibur rout the Voyageurs by a score of 28-1.

The Excalibur women's lacrosse team was back on the road this weekend, visiting the Toronto Varsity Blues on Saturday. After a close matchup against the Queen's Gaels last weekend, the Excalibur got back on track, doubling up on the Varsity Blues, 10-5.

Midfielder Avery DiGiorgio continued her offensive production this season, tallying a total of four goals and two assists, helping the Excalibur jump to an early 3-0 lead, and the team never looked back.

This past weekend we also saw the return of the Head of the Trent Regatta, hosted by the Peterborough Rowing Club, and our  home  team Excalibur didn't disappoint.

A total of 10 boats finished on the podium as Mike Caryk (3rd, Men's 1x), Grace VandenBroek (1st, Women's 1x), Rosalyn Shepherd (2nd, Women's Lightweight 8+ & 2x), Mixed Club 4x (2nd), Brendan Rivers (2nd, Men's 2x), Men's Novice 8+ (1st, 2nd), Women's Novice 8+ (2nd), Brianna Tombs (1st, Women's 2x), Tasmin West (1st, Women's 4+)

Returning home to play at Justin Chiu Stadium for the first time in almost two years, the Excalibur women's rugby team hosted their home opener against the Western Mustangs.

With kickoff in front of the home crowd, the Excalibur would put up 29 points but it was not enough, falling 61-29 to the visiting Mustangs. They will look to bounce back in two week's time against the Toronto Varsity Blues.

The men's Excalibur rugby team continued their season opening road trip with a stop to Nixon Field for a match against the Queen's Gaels. A try from Kalen Sager put the Excalibur men's team on the board but it was the Gael's who would take the win at the final whistle.

The Excalibur men's and women's soccer teams kicked off and concluded this weekend's action on the field on Sunday with a visit to Richardson Stadium for matches against the Queen's Gaels. After losing 5-0 in the first game, the men's team returned to Justin Chiu Stadium but would not be able to beat the Gael's defence, as they fall to 2-2 on the season after a 1-0 loss. For the women's team, they conclude their weekend with two 5-0 losses against the Queen's Gaels and Ottawa Gee-Gees and will look to bounce back after the Thanksgiving break.
