The Trent Excalibur women's soccer team welcomed The Bold to Justin Chiu Stadium on Friday afternoon for what was to be a thrilling match.
The first half displayed strong attacking from TMU, with Peterborough's very own Victoria Ivey Town showcasing her strong goalkeeping save after save. Trent had some great chances offensively, including great chances from Daren Patkau (Strathroy) and Emma Da Silva (Whitby). TMU would eventually break the stalemate, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead at half. In the second half, Trent pushed hard to find the equalizer, with more great chances coming from Patkau, and Melanie Oleschuk (Kingston), though The Bold's keeper turned them all aside. Mariah Shaw (Coburg) ran the midfield for Trent, making several important interceptions along with numerous key passes that led to countless scoring chances. Trent continued to push, but The Bold held on to return home with a 1-0 victory.
This match puts the team at a 1-4 record for the season.
The Excalibur's Women's soccer team will travel north for their next match, to face the Nipissing Lakers on September 21 at 12 p.m.
