Excalibur Student-Athletes Named OUA All-Stars After OUA Women's Lacrosse Championships

After a successful season, the team concluded with a fourth-place finish

The Trent Excalibur women's lacrosse team wrapped up the 2024/25 season this weekend at the OUA Championships, hosted by Brock University.

After finishing the regular season with a 7-1 record, the team entered the Championship weekend second in the league and finished in fourth place.

While the team was hopeful for a medal, they didn't leave the tournament empty-handed. Excalibur goalie Kieran Gerow and midfielder Natalie Fournier were named to the OUA Women's Lacrosse All-Star team.

The Excalibur started round-robin play with a rematch of last year's bronze medal match, facing the Toronto Varsity Blues. Abby Hiltz led all scorers with five goals, including two critical scores in the fourth quarter. With both teams hungry for another shot at a medal, the deadlock couldn't be broken and the game ended in a 10-10 tie.

The Excalibur knocked the Brock Badgers out of the tournament on Saturday. Abby Hiltz continued her scoring ways from the previous day, putting in a game-high six goals for the Excalibur, helping to defeat the host team 13-5.

This win sent the team to the semi-finals to face Ontario Tech.

Tyler McDonald secured a hat trick, but it wasn't enough to win the game. Ontario Tech won 11-7, sending the Excalibur to the Bronze medal match on Sunday.

In a repeat of last year's bronze medal game, the Excalibur faced the Toronto Varsity Blues.

Natalie Fournier led the Excalibur in goals, putting four in the net.

Ultimately, the Excalibur fell to the Blues who took the bronze medal after an 11-9 victory.
