2023-24 Excalibur Varsity Tryout & Registration Requirements

The following components must be completed prior to attending any tryout.

1. Varsity Registration Forms

Please register for the appropriate sport using the following link.

2. CATT Concussion Education

All student-athletes are required to complete the Concussion Awareness Training Tool Athlete Course. The Concussion Awareness Training Tool (CATT) is a program designed to provide high performance athletes with the information they need to take an evidence-based approach in responding to and managing concussion. At the end of the course, you will be prompted to enter your information to receive a certificate of completion. Please use your @trentu.ca email address. Certificates will automatically be sent directly to Trent Athletics so there is no need to send a copy to Athletics.

3. Player's Health App

The Player's Health platform is a full electronic medical record (EMR) for athletic therapists at colleges and universities to easily manage records, communicate with staff and athletes, and leverage data for health improvement and injury prevention. It is offered as both an app and web-based solution.

Returning Student-Athletes

  1. If you have had any changes to your personal or family medical history since last year, please log onto your Player's Health profile and make any required changes to your "Pre-Participation Form 1".
  2. Please note that you are not required to complete step 2 (Physician Medical Questionnaire). Due to the configuration of the platform, we are unable to remove this step and it will continue to pop up each time you are on the portal. You can either continue to skip this step or upload a blank document which will stop the prompts to complete the Physician Medical Questionnaire.
  3. If there have been any changes to your personal or family medical history (ie. You answered "yes" to any of the questions 1-8), you will be contacted to set up a virtual screening appointment with a member of the Trent Health in Motion team to review your medical history prior to being cleared to play.

New Student-Athletes

New student-athletes are required to create an account with Player's Health. Once logged in, you will need to register with the 2023-2024 team you are trying out for. This can be done by selecting "Manage Teams" and selecting "Trent University 2023-2024" as the Club. You can then select a team to be added to (ie. Women's Rugby 2023-2024).

Once added to a team, there are three steps in the registration process:

Note that if you have any new or pre-existing injuries or conditions, you may be required to provide a physician's note to be cleared to participate in ANY varsity activities, including but not limited to try-outs, training camps, exhibition, and/or competition. If you have a history of serious injuries or illness it is recommended that you proactively acquire a physician's note. If you have had a concussion in the last 12 months, a physician's note will be required to clear you to participate.
