Trent students and alumni delivered some impressive performances at the NRC's this past weekend .

Held in Burnaby BC this regatta is the culmination of 2018 season for Canada's high performance rowers, and those who want to see where they rank amongst the best.

A guest appearance from 3 time Olympic champion Mahe Drysdale from New Zealand gave scullers a chance to race against a legend. Sadly missing the action due to rehab post surgery was Trevor Jones.

Grace VandenBroek won the B final in the women's single, claiming a gold medal for U19, and silver for U23.

Grace's final race of the season and last race as a junior capped off a successful year both on the domestic and international stage. Grace was honoured at Rowing Canada's award banquet winning the Bobby Pearce Award for the most outstanding junior female sculler of the year.

Second year Trent student Bailey Hooper continues to impress selectors as a Cdn team Para athlete, claiming a gold medal in the P3 single category. " a impressive bundle of grit and determination, Bayleigh is an asset to have in our training environment and will continue her undergrad studies at Trent while preparing for the 2020 Para Olympics"

As the athletes transition to indoor training and cross training for the winter, Spencer Kielar will extend his season with  his selection to the Canadian team racing at the PanAm qualifiers in Rio, Argentina at the end of November.

In the Men's 1x final Matt Buie won, Queens U student Gavin Stone won silver and Trent's andrew Stewart Jones won bronze, Mahe was 4th. Alumni Graham Peeters placed 6th in the B final ranking 12th overall.

Alumni Josh King won a silver in the men's lightweight division. Winning the B final, was freshman Spencer Kielar, claiming a silver in the U23 category . In the same race and 9th overall was alumni Alex Watson. In the men's pair event Dan Bullock teamed up with Carleton's Hunter Amesbury winning the C final and placing 13th overall, and forth in U23 men.
