Summary:

In Men’s Rugby Action, the team finished out the season with a bang versus cross-town rivals the Fleming Knights. Winning with a convincing score of 69-7, we look forward to seeing more of Men’s Rugby in the OCAA Playoffs next week.

Rowing has a lot to be proud of after this past weekend at the OUA championships in St. Catharines. In the Novice Regatta, the Trent Novice Women retained their Gold Medal status from last year, finishing first in the Novice Women’s Eights category. The coaches of the Novice Women’s Program - Terry Kelly & Rory Lepage – came away with the Women’s Development Coaches of the Year award. The Novice Men fared well as well, placing 5th. In the Varsity sector, coming into the competition with a strong Lightweight Men’s program, the team had high hopes. After a late weigh in time and a bit of stress, the lightweights finished the first day with all crews making the A-final, setting them up for success on Finals Day. Saturday saw many wins for the program, with Joshua King maintaining his undefeated streak in the Lightweight Men’s Single, and joining Alex Watson to complete the duo’s undefeated season in the lightweight men’s double. The Lightweight Men’s Eight battled it out versus Queens and McGill for third place and came out victorious, winning the race by only a few feet. The Lightweight Men’s Four had a similar situation, and came out victorious with another bronze medal. Each Men’s boat contributes to points, and the combination of all of Trent’s successes helped them to bump Queen’s out of the Bronze Medal Program spot they have held for many years to place the Men’s Program in Third Place.

The Women’s Rowing Program experienced immense success as well, edging out the Brock Badgers for the third place finish in the Heavyweight Women’s Eight.

In Women’s Lacrosse Action, the OUA Championships brought a final challenge for the team. Playing well all season, the team felt well-prepared for what was ahead. The team unfortunately did not make the medal round, but made a showing in the final awards ceremony and earning fifth place overall. Collecting the Offensive MVP of the Year, Defensive MVP of the year, and the Rookie of the Year titles were Leah Ogilvie, Denise Miller, and Mikayla Hicks, respectively.

The Soccer teams finished out their seasons at home this weekend, with the Men’s & Women’s teams both narrowly falling to the Carleton Ravens.
