The Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse teams both continued their strong starts to the season to move to 5-0 and 4-0 respectively. The men were playing at home, and answered the call in a big test as they hosted defending CUFLA Champion McGill Redmen. The Excalibur were down after each quarter before a big fourth quarter was capped by Jeff Fernandes’ winning goal just 45 seconds from time. The victory was a statement as the McGill team had not lost a regular season match since September 27, 2012.

The Women’s team was up Hwy 115 at UOIT and looking to build off of a great first weekend that saw them play giant killers as well knocking off the defending OUA Champions from Western. The team were clearly prepared for the second weekend of the season as they dominated both of their matches, beating the host UOIT Ridgebacks 19-2, and following that up with a 19-1 victory over the York Lions. In the first game, scoring was spread out but Donna Ward led the way with a 7-point match (5 G, 2 A). The second match of the day also saw a balanced attack but a big 6-point game (2 G, 4 A) from Leah Michel led the way.

Men’s and Women’s Rugby were both in Waterloo, ON. The women paid a visit to the Laurier Golden Hawks in cross-division competition Saturday evening, and were unlucky to drop the match after leading early through a try from Jordan Semark. The final score was 25-17 in favour of the Hawks. The men were up next visiting the Waterloo Warriors on Sunday afternoon. The Excalibur would not leave disappointed as they took the match 27-14. Two tries from fourth year student Joey Sargeant and a strong overall performances brought the team to 2-1 on the season.

In other games, the Men’s and Women’s soccer teams were on an always difficult trip to Northern Ontario to face off against Laurentian and Nipissing University. The men would take a point from the Lakers on Sunday, but would be left wanting after taking the lead 2-1 with only 6 minutes left.
