PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - Now unbeaten over their last five matches, first-year midfielder
Sarah Foster (Oshawa, Ont.) delivered late game heroics to secure a 1-0 victory for the UOIT Ridgebacks women's soccer team on the road versus the Trent Excalibur on Saturday.
Following a first half which saw the two opponents deadlocked at 0-0, it wasn't until the 88th minute that the Ridgebacks were able to finally break through. Finishing off a pass from second-year midfielder
Melanie Hoekstra (Bowmanville, Ont.), the Oshawa native Foster recorded her second goal of the season and her first career game-winner.
After starting the season with two losses, the Ridgebacks have elevated their game, moving to 5-3-1 (W-L-D) to jump one point ahead of the No. 7 nationally ranked Queen's Gaels for second place in the OUA east division.
They will look to extend their current undefeated streak when they welcome the Laurentian Voyageurs and Nipissing Lakers to Vaso's Field next weekend. Kick-off with the Voyageurs on Saturday, Sept. 29 is set for 12 p.m., with the same start time scheduled for the Lakers the next day.
