JUSTIN CHIU STADIUM

Fielding a dream for athletes.

The first of its kind in the Greater Peterborough region, the Justin Chiu Stadium provides an athletic space for a variety of different groups - from varsity teams to community sport leagues.

Resurfaced in 2018 and named in honour of international alumnus and world-renowned property developer Justin Chiu in 2010, the stadium boasts seating for a thousand people, outdoor score clock, outdoor video screen, media box with full broadcast and we-cast capabilities, outdoor sound system and high-tech lighting, allowing for field use at all times of the day or night.

Complementing the stadium is the athletic field. Made of state-of-the-art synthetic turf, the field adds a professional edge and facilitates an impressively long season of usage when compared to natural grass.

The stadium field has drawn excitement and celebrity to Trent and the City of Peterborough as it was the host venue to the Women's Under-19 World Field Lacrosse Championships in 2007, and again in 2019. Justin Chiu Stadium is home to six varsity teams. In addition, it is the focus of all major campus gatherings for outdoor events, such as the Great Race, college weekends, Trent International Students Association games, and many more. The facility is also home to Trent's outdoor field sports segment of the award-winning Campus Recreation/Intramural Program and has helped to secure the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) National Championship for Women's Rugby, held at Trent in 2010.

It is estimated that approximately 200,000 people use the stadium annually. Looking to the future, this facility will continue to be an elite space for students and community members to compete, stay active and simply enjoy the art of sport.
