After an unforgettable season, head coach of the men’s lacrosse team Geoff McKinley is stepping down from his position in the program. Since the program’s inception in 2005, McKinley has been a solid presence, building the team from the bottom up leading them to three straight years of Baggataway Cup qualifiers, with the team placing second in the league in 2016. In 2012, McKinley became the official head coach of the team and since then, has made a remarkable impact on both the players and within the CUFLA league. After bringing the team from a 7-7 record in 2015, to a 13-2 record in 2016, McKinley, alongside his assistant coaches Mark Farthing, Eric Grice, and Josh Wasson took home the CUFLA Coaching Staff of the Year Award. This year, McKinley was awarded with the Coaches Recognition Award for his passionate commitment to the Trent Excalibur Lacrosse program. Choosing to focus on his life away from Excalibur lacrosse, we wish him all the best in his endeavors.

“Playing for Kinner was always an easy task because his energy and determination was contagious each day. He came prepared with a goal to help his players succeed on and off the field, and I believe that goal has been reached tenfold.”

-Travis Szabolcs, Senior 2018

"The impact Geoff has had on this program both on and off the field has been remarkable. From an on-field perspective, Geoff has built Trent into a premier CUFLA program. Off the field, Geoff has had an impact on each player to pull on a jersey. He is the first to say that lacrosse is the fun part, but school is what our players are here for! He has elevated countless life paths for our guys, myself included, something we will always be grateful for! Kinner is symbolic to Trent Lacrosse, and when we bring home that Baggataway Cup, his house will be one of the first stops!"

-Mark Farthing, Defensive-Coordinator/Assistant Coach

“Coach McKinley has always been a pleasure to work with and a strong leader for the young men in our Excalibur lacrosse program. His years of commitment to our program and our student-athletes will leave an incredible mark on and off the field as we move forward. We wish Geoff a wonderful future as he focuses on his life away from lacrosse, but look forward to welcoming him back to support the team from the stands.”

-Deborah Bright-Brundle, Director of Athletics & Recreation
