Trent Excalibur Women’s Rugby is proud and excited to announce the hiring of Peter Hercus in the position of Head Coach.

Mr. Hercus takes over after Nancy Marcotte decided to retire from the position which she held since 2003. Coach Hercus comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience in Rugby, specifically working on the women’s side of the game. “When we were looking for a coach for our program, we wanted to seek someone with extensive experience working specifically within the women’s game” said Trent Athlete Development Coordinator Alex Bridal. He added, “Coach Hercus has been heavily involved in coaching at the club, high school and Provincial level in women’s rugby, and we feel his experience working with High Performance athletes gives us a great opportunity to bring success and continue building the program.”

Coach Hercus has had plenty of success as a Head Coach, most-recently leading his U20 Storm team to the 2015 and 2016 U20 Canadian Rugby Champions. Hercus is looking to build off of his successes at club and High School levels by moving to a USports program, and is excited to take the helm. "I am honoured to be given the opportunity to coach at Trent and continue building on their strong rugby tradition,” said Mr. Hercus. “I think the potential is extremely positive for this group of young players”, he added with a smile.
