The Women’s volleyball team played two tough matches against the Guelph Gryphons and the Waterloo Warriors this past weekend. After a hard fought defeat to Guelph Saturday night, in which Trent’s Camile Garzon led the Excalibur with 11 kills, and first year outside hitter Genna Saunders had 9 kills with a .421 hitting percentage, the Excalibur travelled to Waterloo to take on the Warriors. On Sunday, the Excalibur took on the 6th ranked west division team in Waterloo in an afternoon game. The Excalibur battled hard and were able to earn a set in the match. First year setter Heidi Hayes led the Excalibur with an impressive 25 assists in the match, while Camile Garzon and Genna Saunders added 9 kills each.

On the men’s side, the team displayed a valiant effort in their two road games this weekend. On Saturday, a balanced attack from the Excalibur saw Emanuel Danso-Amofa, Omer Sullivan, Nicholas Taylor, and Matthew Bergin each record 3 kills. The team made the short trip from Guelph to Waterloo for an afternoon match against a tough Waterloo Warriors team. An impressive showing from third year setter Tom Martin saw him record 18 assists, while outside hitter Jacob Bothen recorded 7 kills.

The Trent Excalibur will prepare for a two game home stand as the Men’s and Women’s volleyball teams take on the Nipissing Lakers on Saturday night, and the York Lions on Sunday, both at the Trent Athletics Centre.
